Dancing to music played by Okay
for Sound allows you to enjoy and experience Bryan Webb’s passion for classic dance
band music from the 1920s and 30s. A DJ (or to use the correct
period description – a purveyor of gramophone recitals for
dancing!) was an unknown phenomenon in 1930s. However, utilising
modern technology to transfer the 78rpm shellac source of ORIGINAL
dance band recordings to CD, computer and digital storage, Okay for
Sound brings you crisp, bright dance music TODAY.
Bryan’s vast private collection of rare dance band tracks
comes back to the dance floor, seventy years later! Bryan plays
his authentic recordings at social events, nightclubs, tea dances
and weekend events throughout Europe. A passion for British
dance bands is balanced by a love of the more unusual continental
recordings, the big Cuban Dance Orchestras and music from around
the Empire! You might find one or two numbers from ‘over
the pond’ too!

Equipment provided (with art
deco surrounds and screens) includes a professional dance hall quality
dual CD sound system – even an authentic recreation of a BBC
Outside Broadcast unit (circa 1939). If your taste is suited
to the original acoustic replication, Okay for Sound can arrive with
original decks or gramophones for a more intimate tea dance.
Dressed in period evening clothes, Bryan brings Okay for Sound to life,
allowing you to experience this beautiful, original dance music, announced
in eloquent tones, so often overlooked in our over amplified world.
